Enhanced Support Teaching Assistant - Year 5


Salary: Grade 3 (pt 6-9 pro rata)

Job Type: Enhanced Support Teaching Assistant

Location: Sir Francis Hill Primary School, Lincoln

Contract Type: Temporary Maternity Cover (Starting in January 2019 - Pending the needs of the school)


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work as part of our SEND team as enhanced adult support for a pupil in our growing school.

This post will be based in Year 5 in January and is for 21 hours each week. These hours are morning hours, but flexibility during your working week would be beneficial, in case a need arises for additional hours with this child.   


The child who you will be supporting has Cerebral Palsy, ASD and Cognition and Learning Differences.


The child requires support for:

  • developing their listening skills to promote independent learning
  • pre learning for key topic based vocabulary
  • post learning of concepts
  • learning key objectives from the curriculum
  • learning key life skills
  • some support with their Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy programme


We would require from you:

  • a commitment to the education and development of the child so that they can reach their full potential
  • experience of working with children on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • a good understanding of the strategies that work for a child with ASD
  • an ability to work on your own initiative and, at times, under pressure
  • an excellent standard of English (including spoken English) and Maths is essential in this post in order to ensure ‘challenge’ for the child
  • excellent interpersonal skills in order to work alongside our growing staff


This role will involve:

  • liaising with the child’s parents, the class teacher and the SENCO
  • an expectation that you will work alongside and assist in coordinating external agencies
  • working 1:1 in a classroom setting with the child along with small group work, providing support for the child’s additional needs
  • following and implementing individual targets for the child
  • preparing resources that the child requires
  • delivering interventions for the child
